I absolutely loved The Sober Diaries , it really made me laugh and The alcohol experiment is great too.

Any recommendations for books that are along the same lines as The Sober Diaries?

I must confess that I find many of the “memoir” quit lits just too grim and uncomfortable! The one that I love, and re-read, is the Unexpected Joy of Being Sober by Catherine Gray, and her follow up Sunshine Warm Sober.

I think it’s quite good to read something that gives an overview of the physical and mental impacts of alcohol - William Porters Alcohol Explained is very good for that, as is David Nutt’s Drink? (Although Nutt does talk about moderation being an option- by the time I read it I was comfortable that it wasn’t an option for me, but if you’re in the early days of trying to abstain completely might be one to swerve for now).

Not a book but I love Anna Charles' 90 Days Later podcast. Short episodes, always helpful, keeps me going.

This Naked Mind - Annie Grace and Alcohol Explained - William Porter. Both do workshops that you can do. Both have facebook groups that you join and converse with people following their programmes. Both authors are good. Annie Grace takes the scientific approach to alcoholism. Both work on changing the mindset of the alcoholic whilst at the same time explaining alcohol and the effects it has on the body. I tend to go for books like these two rather than 'The sober diaries' and 'quit like a woman'. I prefer the hard facts rather than a personalised journal.

I found Mrs D is Going Without
very helpful as her drinking habits are similar to mine.
