What you do miss about children being young

Now mine are getting older I find I miss the following:

  • the playground, I use to find it a bit monotonous but now they're too old and I see a good one and I miss it funnily enough
  • being up and out early morning for a day out, mine surface late morning - although I like not having interrupted sleep!
  • days out themed for small children - so many things for Christmas which sound magical but not for us anymore
  • feeding the ducks - I still feed them sometimes with leftover bread, feel like I'm becoming one of those middle-aged women (maybe they were mourning their children growing up!)
  • Just them wanting to be with you, now mine choose to stay at home and I will go out on my own.

Don't get me wrong, older children bring a lot of joy and different fun but I'm just surprised by how I'm suddenly out of the young children phase (went so fast) and how I miss some things which we did all the time (and got bored at times) and then you one day find you don't and you miss it!

I always remember watching my son reading his favourite comic by himself, when we had previously read it together. That and not holding my hand once he got older.

Is this is the right section op?

Occasional co-sleeping when DS was little, and the smell of his hair.

He's a teenager now, taller than me.

Honestly? I don’t miss it. The only thing I do miss is having smaller worried about them. Bigger kids, bigger worries. But no, other than that I was happy to move on.
