Hi, everyone.
There was a time when I was a hopeless alcoholic, living rough on the streets of a large city. I was in and out of detox clinics all over the UK.
My life was a joke for a good 10 years.
I am now pleased to announce, that on the 3rd September 2023,

I shall reach a milestone of being sober for 40 years.

It was difficult in the beginning, but then I moved away and was admitted to
the Priory Unit in Macclesfield hospital, This detox unit was nothing like all the others I had been in, I was kept in for 38 weeks. The first 3 weeks I was in a wheelchair, as my legs were shaking that much I couldn't stand up.
The unit concentrated (with me anyway) on the "Dutch courage" part of my drinking, I had no confidence whatsoever, and I was a very shy person.
They had me doing all sorts of ridiculous tasks, like lying on the floor and pretending I was giving birth 😂 Their logic was, if you could make a complete fool of yourself in a crowded setting, then you would be more confident,
Well, for me, it worked, and I haven't had a drink since the day I was admitted to the Priory Unit on the 3rd September 2023.

Thanks for reading. 🙂👌
