Posted here before once but can't remember username.

Essentially, I've drank on average (sometimes more, sometimes half) a bottle of wine a night since I was 18 (7 years). I have decided that enough is enough and it's time to stop before it does some permanent damage. However, I'm too scared to just stop in case that's worse (?). So, I have had half the last two nights and tonight I've had a 175 ml glass and I'm now trying to just have squash and not get another one. It's hard. Any advice for reduction etc would be greatly appreciated. Or just support and say don't get another one. Anything really.

Thank you for reading this, even if you don't reply Smile

I, too, am massively trying to cut down. Similar story.

Am going to fail tonight, as I have the day off tomorrow, but think how much better you will sleep and how much better you will feel better in the morning if you don't have another glass.

Happy to keep posting on this thread to keep us both on the right path.

I would just say that I find moderation much harder than total abstention.

If I try to control or limit my intake, I end up thinking about alcohol all the time. If you decide you aren’t drinking any more, you have made your decision, and after a while you just stop thinking about it.

Cold turkey. Will be the best thing you ever do once you get iver the first few weeks. You will have more energy, jump out if bed in the morning, less anxious, more focused, its like walking through the fog and coming out the other side. I used to be an all or nothing drinker, could never have one, used to drink to excess around 4 nights a week. Stopped as I was pregnant and then breastfeeding. Now I drink about Ince every 2 - 3 months and tend to not even finish a glass, I don't miss ot at all. I've never felt more confident, energised, and my mental health has never been better

Hi guys, I appreciate the messages checking on me; thank you. I have managed 4 AF free nights (3 the last 3 nights and one last week) and won't be having any today. When I have drank, it's been half the usual amount, so small progress but progress nonetheless.

Last night was hard. I didn't have any but I was craving it. I have also been eating a lot of chocolate for the sugar.

Hi, I am the same as you (but older lol)
Drinking bottle of wine a night, fed up with it now, makes me feel like shit in the mornings.
I also want to give up but am finding it hard.
Happy to chat! Good luck
