This must be a test
I’m craving a glass of wine
and it’s in the Christmas fridge

Took DDog to out of hours last night as we’d found some plastic freezer bag in his poo which we were monitoring because he was being weird and straining, being sick and stretching

went back to vet 9am DDog still with them I’m picking him up at 6.45 with my family
i must not have a drink, what do I do, I’ve only been to 3 meetings so far so I don’t really have anyone just yet

I have shloer and soda in a glass for now
my boy isn’t very well, he is still so little
it’s not fair

im so grateful to be sober to drive. I must remember that

I’ve just checked the fridge
the wine is no longer in there so they must have moved it back out after Christmas day
that’s thoughtful and, more importantly I’ve only just noticed now
19 nights of being sober and it’s the first time I looked

Congratulations to you on no alcohol for 19 days, especially over the Christmas period.

I really hope that you get some good news about your dog soon and that he's okay Flowers

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 30/12/2022 16:12

19 nights is awesome, especially over Christmas! You're doing brilliantly, stay strong.
Dog will be fine, and will be so happy to see you. Focus on that my lovely, and keep going. X

SparkleSpangle · 30/12/2022 16:18

Congratulations. When you go to another meeting speak to the facilitator. Make sure they know you are new. They will help you with a contact if you are struggling outside of meetings. Maybe go to an online meeting tonight?

Ladywiddio48 · 30/12/2022 16:18

Congratulations on your sober time.

Don’t drink, tip any you have in the house out.Did you get phone numbers at the meetings you went to?

There are plenty of Zoom meetings and always people putting their numbers in the chat.If you are on Facebook check out this page.AA ZOOM MEETINGS GLOBAL LIST,has over 69,000 members, meetings are posted continuously all around the World.

I am sober nearly 20years and do almost all my meetings on Zoom these days.

Wishing you well and hope dog is OK.

I'm sure ddog will be fine, they have eaten worse! Congratulations on 19 days. Use Mumsnet as much as you need it for encouragement, it's so difficult but the first 2 weeks is the worst! (I've supported 2 people recently).

My top tip is to have something which you really want to drink to replace the alcohol, personally I love herbal teas (I'm not teetotal but often can't drink for complicated reasons) or posh tonics with a slice of lime or two. My friend who I recently supported munched on so many carrots that she was turning orange (look it up, it happens!) Find an indulgence too for rewarding yourself, you deserve it. Keep us updated on ddog and you. Congratulations again

Wow you’ve done brilliantly, you’ve been having a craving, the thing to remember is they pass. The great news is that you need to stay sober to drive, so find some distraction until you need to leave.

StillDancingEvenOnTheRainyDays · 30/12/2022 16:31

I’m ok

red grape shloer with tonic water, it’s all I had in
i should be at the panto with my family tonight but I’ve been home on my own all day waiting on DDog updates

Just remember you have lots of support on here.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 30/12/2022 16:52

19 nights sober is fantastic.
You're doing brilliantly.
Is there a meeting you could go to this evening, if not in person, then online?
You've got this x

Flipthefrugal · 30/12/2022 16:54

Hi Op
Do you think this is related to different emotions?
Anxiety and uncertainty?
It's ok to feel like this but can be difficult to deal with.
Can you try to ride it out?
Sip a warm drink, go through the touch, feel, look, find exercise ?
You can do this
I'm 7.5 years sober and my life has changed on so many positive ways .

StillDancingEvenOnTheRainyDays · 30/12/2022 17:07

My crisis support lady called, it was 2.5 hours over due but, I’m feeling a lot better after speaking to her and reassurance around my new meds

I can’t go to a meeting, I’m picking DDog up at 6.45 with my family, they re on their way back from the panto

I’m going to sit for a bit before they get back and look at the calm app which she recommended

Can I just say you've done brilliantly? Well done.sounds like you've done all the right things and stayed really strong! I hope your dog is ok - let us know.

StillDancingEvenOnTheRainyDays · 30/12/2022 19:11

We’re home and with lots of meds and a follow up next week

Glad to hear all is well.Cravings will come in early recovery, they don’t last,I found I was often thirsty so would have a cup of tea.It is important to find people you can call.
