I have been planning on stopping alcohol in 2023. I'm a daily drinker (wine) and have been most of my adult life. I'm a HCP which makes it more ridiculous.
Yesterday I was experiencing liver pain, itching, just general signs of knowing this could be, or lead to something much, much worse health wise.
So that's it. No waiting for January. No 'one focal drink', no 'it's new year' excuse. No 'work is so stressful I need to unwind'.

Is anyone else with me?
I can't seem to find the current thread for those looking to quit?

I am doing One Year No Beer (or wine or whatever) thread for 2023. But I am also starting today after finishing the Christmas wine last night.

Good woman yourself for giving up! HCPs in my family are / were pretty big drinkers, so don't worry about that

I'm in. Day 3 today and feeling optimistic (after over a year of 1 bottle of wine a day)

Hello!

Day 4 here (I think). I'm feeling fairly positive too, although I'm really tired today. No good reason why.

I’ve just achieved 9 months sobriety.

Had a whole fellowship behind me that I couldn’t have done it without.

Sending you so much love 🥰

Well done on day 3. Can I ask - I think I'm pretty similar in terms of a bottle of wine a day. Have you experienced/or are nervous about alcohol withdrawal?

I'm in. Day 4 so far. Had a bit of a wake-up call this week. When does the anxiety and shakiness go? I'm not going to buckle as I want to live and know I just have to get through this bit.
Reading the threads on here are helpful.

I’m starting off with no drinking in January. Although all the Xmas alcohol has gone now so starting early . Can’t take the extreme anxiety I get the next day after drinking. Plus the weight gain, not being able to stop after one drink, and not being able to afford it anymore!
