Hi all, I’ve just found out I’m 19 weeks pregnant and I’m scared as I’ve been drinking every weekend for the passed 6 weeks.

I have a one year old already so I had given up drinking when I had her, before her I was abit of a binge drinker and out all the time.

6 weeks ago we went on holiday and I had some drinks for the first time in a couple of years and got the taste for it again so have been drinking two or three bottles of wine a weekend over the course of Friday/Saturday, nothing from Sunday to Thursday.

I’ve just found out I’m 19 weeks pregnant, I’ve always had irregular periods and cycles and was having short bleeds irregularly up to the holiday so I had no idea I could have been pregnant when I started drinking on holiday…. I’m so worried that I may have caused some damage to the baby and obviously will not continue to drink at all now! I am slightly relieved that by the dates shown at my scan I was passed three months pregnant when I had that first drink on holiday which I know is the most important stage of development but does anyone have any advise or experience on a situation like this as I’m still so concerned 😟.

Please report it to your midwife and be totally honest. My adopted kids both have FASD and it hugely impacts their lives.
Their birth mum was drinking a lot more than you have been but the symptoms and facial characteristics are not always seen till the child is over age 6.
Honesty will really help you as if you hide it and then your child develops autistic, ADHD or development delay traits then the symptoms could really be FASD which is very hard to diagnosis.

I have already spoke to my midwife and she didn’t seem to concerned which is why I decided to post on here to see if anyone else has had similar experiences. Thank you for your response.
