Alcohol support
One year sober.
Youronlylimitisyourmind · 04/09/2022 19:19
Just that really, I made it to one year alcohol free and would like to tell someone :)
Pinkandpurplehairedlady · 04/09/2022 19:21
Congratulations!!!! I’ve been sober for 18 years and still remember the early days and how amazing it felt to finally get to a year.
Etinoxaurus · 04/09/2022 19:22
🎉😍🥳
BRILLIANT!!
And here’s to many more, a day at a time.
tribpot · 04/09/2022 19:25
Brilliant - a real milestone. It's a funny day because you don't necessarily want to talk about it with everyone but it shouldn't go unmarked, can you treat yourself to something nice?
bloodyunicorns · 04/09/2022 19:30
Congratulations. That's an amazing achievement - you should be so proud!

Thank you so much for your replies! im surprised by your messages I won't lie and I'm so glad I did post now thank you it means a lot.
@Pinkandpurplehairedlady 18 years! Well done :) the year has been surprisingly okay I woke up one day (after yet another embarrassing night) and just simply had enough of the impact it was making on my life. Here's to many more years of happy sobriety for us both x
@tribpot Its a big milestone isn't it, I agree it's been a funny day my family don't realise how much of an issue alcohol was and so don't realise that today is a pretty big deal for me. I bought myself a little coin from Etsy with one year on the front and you made it on the back something daft but be nice to have it and remind me what a good feeling getting today was.
thank you all again for your messages they've been lovely to read x

Well done- that’s amazing. it’s a real achievement.
I remember AA folk telling me it would just get better and better and better and you know what it has. It’s been the single best thing I’ve ever done. It’s not been plain sailing, the first time I only did 3 years and it was harder the second time around. But this time I’m at 13 years and I know I don’t have another getting sober in me.
Sometimes I’ll dream that I’m drunk and it’s such a scary dream, I can’t believe I threw it all away, and then I wake up- phew.
may you have many many more sober years. It’s not always easy, but for me it’s easier than the alternative. You should feel very proud. An awesome achievement.

Congratulations, OP. That's wonderful. I lost my husband and my mother to alcohol and stories like yours just make my world a little bit brighter. Thank you for sharing.
