I understand the interest in counting days, but what I'll offer is that it creates a drive for perfectionism. You get to day x, drink then go back to day 1. Do this a few times and it leads to a feeling of 'I'll never get this sorted out'. Which becomes a new drink pattern layered on the old one. I say that because that was me. I could go for months without drinking but after having one I'd be right back to it because my desire for it was still there. That is the secret: remove your desire for it and you won't want to drink. It's like if you're a non-smoker: it's EASY to not smoke because you have no desire for cigarettes. Same thing is true with alcohol. Promise. And if you want to know more, I talk about this kind of thing on my 90 Days Later podcast - episode 3 Desire and episode 1 why we drink would be good places to start.
