Need to break the habit of daily drinking

I've been thinking of posting this a lot and finally inspired by another thread to do it, I didn't want to hijack it so I've started my own thread.

I've noticed over the last 18 months that I drink pretty much daily. I can see my consumption has slowly creeped up and it's currently between one small glass to half a bottle of wine per day.

Growing up my parents had a drink daily so it was normal to see from childhood.

Thinking about why I drink, it feels like a mixture of boredom and habit. I have a younger DS and DH works a rota so I'm tied to the house a lot and wouldn't be able to consistently commit to a certain evening weekly to do something like a class.
So instead my evenings consist of a glass of wine and watching a show. Never drunk, probably a high tolerance and high functioning.

While pregnant I didn't drink at all so I know I can cope without perfectly fine. As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I stopped and didn't have any issues doing so.

I'm looking for any advice on how to break the habit and cut back on drinking to a much healthier amount with a few alcohol free days a week.

How did you do it?

This is the first time I've decided to tackle it and spoken about it so please be kind.

I don’t know if this would work but when I was pregnant if I fancied a drink I’d have a tonic water with a slice of lemon or lime, or soda with berries or an appletise or something. Just making sure my drink still felt a bit more special.
Also with wine I find once you’ve opened it you’re kind of committed to drinking it for the next few nights so I rarely open a bottle or if i really want some I have a mini bottle so that I’m not predetermining that I need to drink again tomorrow and the day after to finish it off. No idea if that even makes sense!
I've never been a daily drinker so feel free to ignore me, I probably have no clue!

@Holmgang this makes total sense!
Im definitely going to try it! I've bought some alcohol free beer and we got lots of different tonic water flavours as well. I was the same and drank lots of tonic water while pregnant to make my drink more special.
I think you're right, it's having something different to drink. I drink coffee and water throughout the day, never been a big squash or soda pop (coke/Fanta etc) drinker so wine has sort of become that drink.

I downloaded the NHS Drink Free Days app. It’s very good and helped me with only drink 3 days a week.

Thank you! I've downloaded it now too!
And one called drinkless
