Recovery AA after relapses

DemoralisedNow · 12/04/2022 14:42

Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone has got longterm sober in AA after multiple attempts? I have been back and forth between AA and drinking for 6 months now. Day 1 again today and I hope it sticks this time. Has anyone managed to stay sober in AA after several false starts? Looking for some hope, really!

Thanks

Hi, my mum did Smile
And a good friend of mine with eating and alcohol addiction really got on well with a book called ‘the unexpected joy of sobriety’. I actually read it too and the author speaks of multiple attempts before doing it for good. You can do it Flowers

Thanks :) I hope one day my kids will be able to say 'my mum did' too! They are very small so I want to quit now while there's a chance they will not remember me drinking at all. I am an occasional binge drinker but I know that alcoholism is progressive and it will only get worse. I have that book, will take a look. And go to regular meetings. And do the steps.

Took me 2 years in AA with a fair number of relapses to get sober.

28 years off it now.

If I can do it anybody can.
