On day 8, feeling great! But got a pub trip tomorrow with friends who will be drinking. I only ever think of the usuals.. Coke, lemonade, J2O or a non alcoholic version of ciders/beers etc.
what's your fave?

Lime and soda is nice.

Weenurse · 13/01/2022 10:10

@winolady I have had a glass of bubbles Christmas Day, Otherwise no alcohol for 12 months

Tomato juice with Lea and Perrins. It’s not a Bloody Mary but it’s okay.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 13/01/2022 16:44

Weenurse that's really brilliant!

I recommend the '30 day alcohol experiment' - I read about it on here and it's great! made it really easy to quite with videos each day and hoping you avoid the pitfalls.

lime and soda
AF beer
tonic and no gin.

I tried the Tanquery AF gin and it's really good, smells funny but when it's in tonic it does the trick. I swear I wouldn't notice if I didn't know it was AF. £15 at the mo in Sains, so not super cheap but cheaper than gin.

Angostura Bitters and soda water or lemonade is quite refreshing but possibly more so in the summer than the middle of winter!

soberdovered · 13/01/2022 16:50

oh should say - that is an app !

winolady · 13/01/2022 16:57

Thanks everyone and @Weenurse well done you!

I have discovered this week Gordon's 0%, wow the stuff smells identical and it tastes pretty similar to be honest! What I thought was funny is I have to keep it in the fridge as the bottle says once opened refrigerate, presumably because there's no alcohol in it!?

Hope everyone's getting on well with dry January. I had a chat with my dad earlier who said he noticed at a bbq a few years ago how my eyes lit up when someone came over with the bottle to my glass, he said he can tell I've got a slight problem, which is true but it's hard to hear iykwim?

That's my favourite, a Rock Shandy - lemonade, soda water and Angostura Bitters. Or substitute the soda water for ginger beer for a Malawi Shandy.

Fentimans elderflower or pink lemonade. Perrier with a slice of lemon.

Bramshott · 13/01/2022 17:03

Lime and soda because it's not to sweet and often very cheap. I resent paying almost the same price for a non-alcoholic drink than an alcoholic one! [not doing Dry January, just live rurally so am almost always driving when I go to the pub]

RestingStitchFace · 13/01/2022 17:05

Sipsmith do a nice non-alcohol gin that tastes just like the real thing.

Appletiser. Refreshing taste and looks like champagne Smile
