My DM has just died 2 weeks ago (she didn’t drink at all btw). In hospital she told me off again re my drinking and of course she is right. My dad also has terminal pancreatic cancer (again he didn’t drink much and laterally didn’t drink for a year until his diagnosis). I am now feeling my own mortality looming ever closer if I don’t stop and have been having tummy pains so worried sick. So looking for support here. Plan to do dry January but want to start from today!

Good luck. Giving up is the best thing I’ve ever done.

I’m sorry to hear about your mum and your dad Flowers

There's a thread on here for people giving up alcohol completely. Think it's called the Freedom Thread. I found it very helpful. Also just seen a new dry Jan one if you want to join and take it one month at a time x

So sorry for your loss OP. Start with dry january and take it from there. Like me, you may well do dry January and feel so happy and content that you carry it on, life without Alcohol is amazing for your mental health and with your mum dying and your father being unwell being sober will help you in a million ways Flowers good luck
