Today it's 12 months since I had any alcohol.

Today I found that I no longer miss it.

Here's to the next 12 months and here's a hug of encouragement for anyone on their own path.

Massive well done!
I'm 2 weeks sober. Couldn't escape to an AA meeting today and have found it almost umbareable. Alcohol everywhere!

I hope I will be following your path and celebrating 12 months next Xmas Smile

Nothing disastrous but am hoping to join you on that path before the year is out.

Well done, OP Star

I gave up drinking for health reasons in September. I'd been overdoing it during lockdown, my blood pressure was bothering my GP, and the extra couple of stones I'd gained was bothering me.

Now I'm well over a stone down, feel great and today had my first sober Christmas Day ever despite spending the day with five other adults who were all drinking. I'm feeling quite proud of myself this evening. Do I miss it? Sometimes, but the benefits of giving up are worth it.

To anyone trying to give up, just take it one day at a time.
