Not sure if this in the right thread ! But I'm 22 and have been drinking wine mostly every night .. around half a bottle or sometimes full bottle . I'm just wondering if anyone has became slightly I'll or felt better for not drinking wine on a night ?

I'm finding I'm having stomach issues and cramping . And just genuinely feeling like rubbish . I now know that I need to stop for my health , I have been drinking on and off for around 3 years . Just wondering if anyone anyone else had these symptoms?

Yes it can make you ill. You need a healthier wind down routine. You're well on your way to alcohol dependency with this habit

You will definitely feel a lot better if you don’t drink a half bottle or a full bottle of wine every night

Daily drinking at that level puts you at higher risk of diseases - you appear to be drinking about 6 units a day and every day. That's over 40 units a week with no breaks. That is a very risky drinking pattern.

Stomach issues can be symptoms of liver disease. You need to see your GP, and gird you loins to be honest. There is support out there to stop drinking. Getting it under control now is important. Because damage is cumulative and the longer you drink, especially with no days off, the riskier it becomes

If you have been drinking at least half a bottle of wine every day for 3 years you would be safer speaking to your doctor or alcohol support services about withdrawing safely. If you are having stomach trouble you may have caused some damage so a doctor can help you get your health back. Giving up for one night isnt the answer.

Yes, it can make you ill. You're not giving your liver a break; alcohol also lowers the immune system. Wine is acidic so in too large a quantity, and incessantly, can damage your stomach lining. As pp said, get advice from your doctor on cutting down/giving up safely.

Well done!

After Christmas you could perhaps look at doing Dry January - I did it last year and found it beneficial. There are always MN threads for support and you'll probably find friends/colleagues who are doing it too.
