Worried about My Mum

My Mum has always 'liked a drink' and recently Ive noticed she has lost weight, and today I looked at her in the daylight and her skin looks a yellowy colour 😟

How old is she? Does she drink daily? It's always worrying when we see our parents weaken in any way.

She's 58 and yes I think she likes a drink most evenings 😕
I'm worried about her as she seems to be looking poorly lately and k was shocked today when I noticed the change in skin colour.
She had a routine blood test a few months ago that showed high liver levels but when I ask her what the outcome of it is she's very vague and says she needs to repeat it in 6 months

If your mum is jaundiced she needs medical attention today . Will she accept that ?

When her levels in her liver were “ high” she will have been told they will recheck them in 6 months …. But she will have also been told to stop the alcohol and THEN recheck in six months . If she’s jaundiced and losing weight and generally unwell her liver is starting to struggle badly … she needs medical assessment today and support to stop drinking .

Sadly one of my friends is suffering from liver failure due to drinking. She has gone so skinny yet looks 9 months pregnant. Regular hospital admissions and transfusions yet she still won't admit she has a problem,
which seems to be common with drinkers. There is support out there but unfortunately if your mum won't accept the help there is nothing you can do.
There is also help for support yourself. Sorry you are going through this and I hope your mum realises what she is doing soon.
