Giving up

I’ve come to the conclusion I need to give up alcohol, I don’t drink every day, or even every week but when I do drink, sometimes I have no inner limit and I don’t know when to stop.

I can’t seem to put a ‘stop’ in myself when I’ve had enough, and I can’t keep doing this.

Just need to write it down somewhere, and try and knock this on the head,

I have just written something very similar on a different post. I had the hangover from hell last week. I don't drink very often, but when I do I keep going. The guilt and physical feeling the next day is awful. I don't want to drink to excess anymore. In fact, I'm not sure I want to drink at all. I don't really enjoy the feeling even after 1 glass. You can definitely do this, I did and 8 months later no regrets. Annie Grace's book is excellent - the alcohol experiment (I think).

Be prepared for people being really weird about it though. Seems its more acceptable to drink way too much than none at all!

Good luck, you can do this.

Thanks both, I don’t want to make some kind of big announcement to anyone irl, I’m just going to do it.

@LawnFever I’m currently reading ‘The Sober Diaries’ recommended to me on here! I am a quarter of the way through and already finding it has helped me cut down massively x

I didn't make a big announcement either. It took me 6 months before I was willing to say I don't drink rather than I'm not drinking at the moment. I love saying it now but it took me a while, especially because I wasn't even that sure whether it was permanent or not. Whereas now I am sure and very comfortable with it. Just do things on your own terms and your own pace.
