Enough Is Enough: I need to cut back

I didn't used to be a heavy drinker. I did on the odd occasion binge drink when out with friends at the weekend, but I never drank alone. Over the past five years my intake has varied between within the guidelines to two bottles of wine a night and everything in between. Currently I'm at about 5-7 bottles a week, which I know is far too much. I drink to relieve stress, to blur out my worries. I suffer from pretty chronic anxiety & am currently undergoing CBT. I've got an ongoing relationship problem that I'd say is the root cause of about 70% of my drinking.

Ideally, I don't want to give up entirely, BUT I do want to stop entirely Sunday-Thu, I think the only exception I want to make for this is if I'm not alone (social occasion.) I've definitely got into a habit of worrying EVERY evening & drowning it out with vino.

I need to create a completely new routine, so my goal is to replace this gross habit with something healthier & more productive.

So the plan for this evening (my life is not particularly exciting, as you'll soon see) Blush

Finish work 6ish
Meditate to destress
Couple of hours cleaning/listening to audiobooks
Reading/tea
Few episodes of something & bed

I'll try & post (and stick to!) my evening plan. If it's diverted for a holiday/something social I'll also post.

Let me know if you want to join Smile

Good luck, have you read the sober diaries? It’s really helped me to cut back. I’m now down to one bottle of Prosecco per week and no lager etc
