A relative who has been a long term alcoholic with severe liver damage has managed not to drink for over 6 months since a serious health scare resulting in being prescribed high dose steroids. However they have been unable to taper off the steroids at all. Would steroids be preventing the craving for alcohol? Am trying to establish if the risk of high dose steroids is less than the risk of the alcohol. Thank you
