Friends in a bad way

I have just spoken to a friend I haven't seen in a while and she has always had problems with drinking. Her life has gone down hill recently and I think she's in a bad way. How can you help some one with drinking problems. My brother died last year at 38 with liver failure and it was the worst thing I have ever seen. He didn't want to see his family because he was ashamed of what he was so I hadn't seen in years. She can go a few days without but gets bad when she does drink.
Any advice
Sal
