Hi everyone. I’m 6 weeks sober now (woooo!). I started with Clare Pooley and then I read The Unexpected Joy. I’m feeling the need to keep reinforcing why I don’t want to drink again. Is the Annie Grace book worth a shot?

Well done on reaching 6 weeks @BigKnickers87 🙌🏻 I really enjoyed reading this book and Allen Carr’s book: The Easy way to control alcohol.

I’ll have a look at that one too then. And thank you so much 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

🙂

I’ve just ordered it so hopefully no one will come on to say it’s rubbish 🤣🤣

Hopefully not! 😬 Please don’t hold it against me if they do!😄

My sister read the naked mind and she found it the most helpful thing she read. She's gone from drinking upwards of 10 pints on a night out/4-8 cans of beer on an average night in, to being sober for 9 months. If she recommends it, I would read it!

BigKnickers87 · 05/07/2020 07:19

Brilliant thanks 👏🏼👏🏼

Haha don’t worry @heatseeker14, I’ll read anything to keep reminding me that I don’t want to drink. It’s coming today!

Have you started the naked mind? I started today on a walk, via an audio book. Got through to chapter 6. Actually v interesting! I don't consider myself an alcoholic but do drink more than 14 units a week and often have a glass of wine in the evenings.

whatthehay · 07/07/2020 16:30

I found it very interesting.

It didn't help me to stop drinking but I didn't have the support at home to stick to it. (DP drinks heavily and refused to read the book)

I spent a lot of money on hypnotherapy and reading material and when I called DP out on not supporting me he said 'I didn't think you were serious' 😬

Neither of us are drinking now though. 😁

UnicornAndSparkles · 07/07/2020 21:02

@whatthehay thats awesome that you're not drinking atm, well done!

Oldhabitsarehardtobreak · 08/07/2020 20:15

Well done op.
After reading your post I’ve ordered the unexpected joy of being sober. Day 12 AF. If I make it to 4 weeks I will look into some of the other books that have been recommended on here.

BigKnickers87 · 11/07/2020 15:38

Thank you for the comments. I didn’t get chance to read it on holiday because I was too tired when the kids were in bed but I’ve started it this afternoon! It’s definitely very different to the other two books I’ve read. I’m now 7 weeks AF!!! Grin

Is there anything on YT that helps? I'm seriously getting worse.
