105 days sober - are all drunk people annoying?

My DH only drinks a few times a week and in a different room from me. Gosh I find him annoying when tipsy!I can only imagine how awful I must have been all the time!

Any top tips on how to deal with this? And other drunk people!

Think it will just take time!

I think a lot of people can be cringey or annoying when drunk Our neighbour had a BBQ the other day, and two ladies were very loud, cackling and swearing. I found it irritating after a while.
Sorry, I don’t really have any tips for you, OP. My DH drinks but doesn’t get tipsy. I’d struggled if he was loud and annoying after a few drinks.

Does your DH drink in front of you? We haven't got there yet!

I haven’t spent a lot of time around DH when he has been drinking. He only drinks a couple at the weekend whilst he is gaming with our eldest son. They have a new game they are hooked on. 🙄 I spend my time downstairs watching films with ddog. 😄 I like Becks Blue, so I have a few of those at the weekend.

Yes. Yes they are Grin

6 years sober here.

I always make sure I have an escape route (never rely on lists or give others a lift) and get all my socialising in nice and early so I can leave. I also spend a lot of time in the toilet on my phone Blush

Top tips! X

If it's DH getting annoying, I just take myself to bed / for a bath. He does t do it very often and I can spot it coming a mile off so usually can escape the situation before he gets too bad!

Yup I'm watching lots of Netflix!!

4 years sober for me. I don’t quite know for sure if all drunk people are irritating as hell or if I’m just annoyed that I’m being reminded of my own drunken regrets and it’s just leftover shame from being a drunk? (Hangxiety anyone 🙈)

heatseeker14 · 28/06/2020 20:52

4 years AF is fantastic @Clevererthanyou. I have flashbacks sometimes to things I’ve said or done in the past when drunk. It really makes me cringe.

Clevererthanyou · 29/06/2020 00:15

It’s very kind of you to say so heatseeker. I do wonder if the regrets will ever leave permanently but I don’t beat myself up too much as I’m sober NOW, does that make sense?

heatseeker14 · 29/06/2020 22:28

I totally understand where you are coming from @Clevererthanyou. I think we can only beat ourselves up so much for the past. At least we can avoid making anymore bloopers in the future. 🙂
