Hi, I'm 62 days sober today (first time ever). My short term memory seems dodgy is this normal? Thx

Just reading The Sober Diaries and she mentions exactly this at around your stage of sobriety. Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome. Tiredness, low enthusiasm, forgetfulness.

The author said she worried she had early onset Alzheimer's.

Happened to me about that point in. Honestly thought I'd lost my marbles. Stick with it, it'll pass. Plus life is a billion times better sober-15 years for me and I'm grateful to myself every damn day.

Well done

Yes it is normal, takes a while to get things back to normal.

17 years sober here.It is so worth sticking with it,everyday in my life is better now than any days when I was drinking.

Wishing you well.

Thank you - I also have very sore achy arms (feels like arthritis though have never had that!) - can prevent me from doing things such as cleaning surfaces so I switch arms - do you think this is alcohol related and I just need to be patient x

Sorry only just seen this post.

Yes wait a while,if no improvement see your GP.Probably is alcohol related but no harm in getting it checked out.

When dad was trying to go sober the alcohol support team made sure he took all his B-vitamins to protect against memory loss. It really helped a lot. Muscle soreness I don't know about.

Well done on 62 days - 70 now! Keep it up. If you're not working with your GP or an addiction clinic, do - there's only so much help they can provide, no miracles, but stuff like this they'll definitely be able to tell you whether it's normal or needs some action.
