Hi so for months I've been drinking 3/4 drinks a night anything from wine to cider or spirits etc I've always been a drinker but lately after a breakup it's like 6/7 nights a week. Never in day always night. Last month one morning i had swollen glands and dry throat(not sore) it went away after a day or two of me gargling salt water and stopping alcohol. Now a month later it's the same after I started up the drinking again.. is it a coincidence or related to the excessive consumption?? Oh and i will be cutting down massively

I get exactly this. More so if I’ve had gin. It scares me a lot. It gets better after a night off alcohol then I have a few drinks..and it comes back

Could it be acid reflux overnight? If the stomach contents come up your oesophagus then acid will burn your throat and can even affect your voice box.

You could try raising your pillow or stopping eating and drinking anything earlier in the evening so it’s less likely to bubble up your throat. Or take a swig of gaviscon before you go to bed. Or all of the above!
