My MIL has been a long time alcoholic. Probably for the best part of 40 years.

She use to be out of control drinking all day and night, but now only drinks in the evenings.

She is able to function daily normally and has always worked etc.
many wouldn't even know she has a drink problem, as she only drinks in doors, and only we as family see this.

I'm not here to shame her, and nor do I want others to reply with shaming reply's.

MIL has developed bowel incontinence. It use to be every now and then, then a couple of times a week and nOw pretty much daily. Always a diarrreoh. She won't go to the doctors and won't admit this is now becoming an issue.

Is this something that is common in alcoholics? She doesn't know that we know about the incontinence, so i can't just chat with her and try to persuade her that the doctor can help.

Why can’t you tell her you know?
TBH if she’s an alcoholic it will likely affect her health eventually.
