I'm too dependent on alcohol. I drink a bottle of wine Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday night. I need to cut down/stop but the idea horrifies me. I have an addictive personality and very disordered eating and I'm worried I'll transfer my addiction to food. And I'm worried my boyfriend won't like me if I'm teetotal. And a whole host of other stupid worries. One day at a time right?

hello @MyGhastIsFlabbered
come and join us on the dry in 2020 thread at the top of this topic. we are all abstaining and taking it a day at a time. it's a kind place and you are welcome there.

Moderation is harder than abstainance in my experience. Why not try a month teetotal to begin with and then assess how you feel, the positives, the triggers etc. If nothing else you will 'reset' yourself, or you might choose to carry on without alcohol. I have done a month and an extending to 100 days - I can't think about forever. You'll be doing something amazing for yourself, if you end up eating too much, so what! Food is so much less harmful and addictive. You've already overcome the first and biggest hurdle if you seriously want to do something about it.
