Hi. I've been on SSRI 's for years. They just make me numb and dont help with quitting alcohol. I've been on a bottle of wine a day for years and its stretching into a second every day for the last year. I'm not on antidepressants now and in a miserable place. I've read up on nalmefene and naltrexone to help with alcohol withdrawal. Has anyone tried either of these meds?

Hi,
I've had Campral (Acamprosate) over the years but didn't find it particularly effective. I'm also a long time user of SSRI's.
AA is great for the meetings, there are SMART meetings, too. OR I quite liked Soberistas online when I couldn't get out to meetings so much.
I can only speak for myself, but I wasn't able to do it on will poer alone. I needed support from elsewhere.
I hope you find the answer you're looking for x
