This is day 8 of no drink. I could pick a fight with a fish finger right now.

It is really hard during the first two weeks isnt it . I started(continuation of ) a dry thread here a few months ago but it went poof yesterday . I am hoping one of the mners that was on there with me starts another one as I found it helped me.

Make yourself a fish finger buttie and wolf it down , you will win that argument !

Congratulations on 8 days. I think that feeling is normal, it passes. I am nearly 9 weeks sober and I rarely have days like that now. The positives will very soon heavily outweigh the negatives.

Thank you for replying both. Have only just checked mn.
So Monday evening I cracked and opened a bottle of beer. Drank half, tasted like shit to be honest and I just didn't want it?!
Feeling a little more positive about it all now though.
Dinner time is usually when I would start, open a can whilst cooking dinner.
It's so hard isn't it.

Hi @SamBeckett
Doing okay thanks. Had a family get together last night, which I was really not looking forward to. It wasn't as bad as I thought!! Couple of times I thought sod it, shall I just have one or two. Glad I resisted though as I know it wouldn't have been just one or two. It was really nice waking up this morning knowing that 100% I didn't say or do anything out of order or embarrassing!
The only downside is I attacked the buffet ten fold!
How long have you been dry for?

@golddustwomen Well done ! it is hard to resist when everyone else around you is drinking .
Having a clear head and conscience in the morning is a great feeling isnt it .
I went completely dry about this time last year and stayed that way till about February this year with the exception of a few glass's of wine on Xmas day. Now I only one or two drinks on a Friday or Saturday evening and about once every 6/8 weeks I go out with some one and have a few pints.
This is a huge improvement for me as before hand I was drinking 3 or 4 cans every week night and and up to 8 on Saturday nights.
A lot of my drinking was down to been lonely/ bored , do you know what triggers yours ?
Have you found a non alcoholic alternative to drink ?
