Usually stop in at least two pubs on the way home from work. End up drinking until all hours and feel horrific the next day. Am about to lose everything.

Have an alcohol support assessment on Thursday. Already have had one failed intervention.

So sick of the cycle I’ve got myself into.

Please may I have a hand hold for the evening?

I’m trying to do nice things tonight. I’ve taken myself out for dinner as a dinner date (with my voices).

I haven’t eaten all day because I’ve been feeling so hungover sick.

So determined this time will be THE time.

Thank you so much @Mammyofonlyone it was really kind of you to post.

I’ve had dinner, some fresh juice and a hot shower. I’m getting quite anxious. Have a huge bottle of water to drink.

Just look after yourself and be careful if you are planning on going cold turkey this evening. Have you got any support in real life? Friends or family?

Do you have a sweet tooth? I know snacking is not ideal, but it is probably better than drinking. I am really trying to cut back so I make myself tea and have a packet of chocolate to get me through until bedtime, and usually go to bed early. Is that an option for you?

Thank you everyone, you are all lovely. I don’t have a sweet tooth but I’ve had some chocolate.

I usually manage a couple of days and then cave. I just have to get to Thursday and then I can get the support when I will most be struggling.

Friends and family don’t know. I’m one of those secretive solo drinkers.

Mental health team are supporting me.

I’ve just made a hot water bottle, turned off the bedroom lights and climbed into bed.

Feel so ashamed of myself.

Don't feel ashamed. Don't allow negative thoughts. Feel like it's the first day of your successful recovery. Take it one day at a time. If that's too much take it one minute at a time. Just don't drink. Eat the chocolate, do whatever. Tell people if you can so you have some real life support. They probably already know.

Be kind to yourself. You can do this.

Tomorrow you are going to wake up clear headed, rested Nd feeling physically well. That is the best gift you can give yourself. Think about how much better and safer you will feel in the morning and what a difference that is going to make to your day and then, it's nearly Thursday. A day feeling clear eyed and relieved of the hangover anxiety that you are probably ly having now is a great start to getting your life back.

Thank you so much everyone. I really appreciate it. Had some really crazy dreams last night but managed the night. Found a can of beer this morning and seriously questioned whether I could drink it, rinse my mouth with mouthwash and go to work but ended up throwing the can in the bin. I never drink in the mornings.

I feel ok this morning. Not so great but not awful. This afternoon and evening will be the challenge though.

Going to make some plans before I leave work.

Thank you for all the support and lovely messages. Cant believe how badly I’ve been hit by this horrible addiction again.

Good work. Get yourself sorted with something to do - maybe the cinema. Not exciting I know but it would fill a couple of hours before you go to bed without drinking?
