Does my partner need help?

My partner of 8 years currently works away for 1 month and then home for 1 month. While he is away he can have a drink on a Sunday (works onshore in a foreign country) and he admits he does. However he has been home 12 nights and has been drunk 8 of them. I spoke to him 3 days ago saying i wasn’t happy as we have 2 young kids and the folllwing day after his drinking he’s a nightmare. He told me there was no more while he’s still at home, but drank the folllwing day and again last night.

What can I do/say to him? It’s driving me mad.

That's definitely not normal or acceptable at all! You need to have a serious talk with him. Either he admits he has a problem and actively seeks to fix it, or you need to decide whether you want to spend your life like that. I'd be furious with him

Tell him if he wants to live the life of a single piss-head he's welcome to move out.

How long has he been like this. I would suggest he tries Stoptober and see how he reacts.

He has enjoyed a drink for as long as I have been with him.. some months at home he will be drunk 2/3 times, other trips could be 10-15 times.. so far this month it’s been 8 times in 12 days so I’m concerned

He tells me he doesn’t drink for any specific reason and he knows he shouldn’t to it and has promised not to have anything else to drink for the next 2 weeks he is at home, fingers crossed Hmm
