So I went to my first AlAnon meeting and it was intense!
And a bit depressing.
And a bit like a cult.
The people there were very eloquent. I just listened.
I could feel the heaviness in the room from all the depression. One person in particular was very angry.
Not sure it's really my thing.
Are there any alternatives?

Hi op
It's been a while since you posted but did you go back? I'm wondering if the place you attend make a difference. I have 3 different towns all fairly close-ish that each have a meeting. I'm going to try my nearest first and see what it's like.
Has anyone else had any experience of going to Al-anon? Did it help...sorry to hijack the thread but it seemed pointless starting another Al-anon one.

Go to different ones!
I know what you mean ... but different meetings have different ‘atmospheres’ to them.
