Alcohol support
Glass of wine (or two) each evening

I usually drink between 1 or 2 large glasses of wine a night(after 7pm) but could easily have more! I have recently made a massive effort to cut back and build in alcohol free days. I have found the following v helpful:
- Empty glass recycling each week. Monitor the box. If there are two empty bottles of wine in there, i do not buy or consume any more(unless we go out which is v rare).
2. Have a cup of tea instead-sounds boring but it works for me.
3. Wait until Ive finished eating before pouring a glass, I sometimes find that my craving goes if I eat and then I don't end up having a drink.
4. Having a bath after dinner and then lying on my bed catching up with news on phone.
I often feel an urge to drink in the evenings. I have a pressure feeling just above my stomach and feel on edge or anxious if I don't drink. I wish I wasn't like this.
My oh doesn't think I drink too much (2-3 bottles a week). He hardly drinks but I feel I drink too much and use it to help me unwind/relax. I never drink in the daytime. Only ever after 7pm.
Does this sound like a problem to you?

You feel anxious if you don't have a drink on a evening - so yes. You do have a problem.
Try settling down with a book and a cup of tea 2 nights a week then gradually cutting back to drinking only on weekends.

Yes I am very determined and am sure I can do it. I didn't drink when pregnant, didn't miss alcohol at all and felt great ie no anxiety or palpitations(I forgot to mention these).

Really good thanks. Had nothing to drink from Sat night until Wed, had a glass on wed night then nothing until Friday. I am going to try my best to limit drinking during the week, I really want to cut back as I attribute anxiety, palpitations and moodiness to it and when I haven't had a drink the night before, I feel much better x

Since wed night I've had two bottles over 3 nights. Drinking Wednesday night (about 350 ml). Friday night (750 ml - I was out for a meal with the girls) and Sat night (400ml). So equivalent of two bottles in total. I am now on my limit for the week so won't touch a drop until recycling bin collected on tues and will try to abstain on week days. My aim is to cut down a little more, perhaps to a bottle per week by November. x
