Am I overdoing it??

I drink beer. I drink beer every evening. I get home from work and open a beer then have between 3-6 every night. I never think about alcohol during the day and never crave it BUT I can't (choose not to?) not have one every day. I work full time and also run my own business. I'm super busy so I just see this as my reward each day. This is the first time I've been open about this so please don't judge! I'd just like your opinions please... am I drinking too much ? Thanks xx

Do you just have one every time?

What would happen if you didn't have a dribk?

MissyMoooo · 04/10/2015 23:51

Not just one - between 3-6 every night. Most mornings i say I won't have one that day but I always do. I don't know what would happen. That's a good question ! Up until 3 years ago I was tee total but I haven't had a dry night since then Confused

How many units a week is that?
TBH if you feel you can't have an alcohol free night that would worry me. Perhaps choose two or three nights and pick a different reward!?

I should mention this all started around the same time as losing my family, I lost my dad, my grandparents and my mum one after the other all within a year. I do still have a beautiful daughter, she's my reason for getting up every morning X

Yes I think that's a good idea - I feel I want to do something before it takes hold of me!

Good for you! It's so easy to let drinking too much or too regularly creep up on you.

Try and change your routine. Bizarrely I like a coffee and some TV once the kids are in bed!

I am also in the habit of drinking. Is there anything else you enjoy doing that you could do instead? As silly as it sounds I like knitting or playing candy crush and that keeps my hands busy too.

There are two long running threads in the relationships topic that you may find helpful:
Dry
Battle babes
Good luck. I've recently cut down and only drink at weekends now after reading these threads.

Good for you for noticing that it may not be ideal.

Are there any other rewards that may help you feel better more permanently? I tend towards sweets rather than alcohol but know that I feel better the fewer I have. Is that the same for you? And what would really support you best now and in the future? Good luck.

It doesn't sound too healthy. I think you need to try not to drink one night and see the result.
