Is there anyone else at a similar stage to me? Would be nice to find a fellow mumsnetter to continue the journey with and support each other. My drinking was having a detrimental effect on my health; weight gain, irritability, lethargy, depression, anxiety, pains in my upper right quadrant, sweats, and bizarrely increased frequency of my periods which I attributed to my oestrogen being out of whack. Onwards and upwards. We can do this!

best thing to do is take it one day at a time and dont put yourself in a position were you can be tempted eg cut your contact with any drinking friends partner ect and try to stay away from rows of shops with off licences ect , take your mind off it by taking up a hobby , alcohol is a drug , less u see it , less u think about it

I'm at day 4. I have set a target of a month alcohol free to start with. Are you looking at giving up long term or just cutting back? I've had a pattern of binge drinking for many years but recently I've done some stupid things and I have to face the fact that its gotten a lot more serious.
