I apologise if i shouldn't have put this in here. Im searching for my db who was adopted by his stepdad (my birth father) he always lived with our mum growing up. I've tried using the salvation army but because theres an adoption involved they wont touch it. Just wonder if anyone has any ideas how i could trace him.
TIA

I'm confused - is he your half brother? do you have the same mum and different dads? if so i dont see how the adoption is relevant, as you grew up as siblings

if its a just a straightforward situation that you have lost touch with your brother then the salvation army should be able to help you

i assume you have tried facebook, freinds reunited etc, the electoral rolls, registrar general etc?

good luck

Yes he's my half brother, same mum different dads. I tried salvation army before but because there's an adoption involved they wouldnt touch it will try again then.

I've trawled facebook etc. Going to look again at the electoral rolls. Where would i find the registrar general?

Thanks

I don't think you need to mention the adoption, as its not really relevant. your relationship with your brother is both biological and one of affinity - you grew up as siblings. the step parent adoption is a red herring

the registrar generals office has all the statutory records of births, deaths and marriages. The relevant office depends on where you live.

if you google things like family tree/history you will get lots of useful sites.the adoption records would be of no use to you even if you could access them, as presumably you already know your brother's name, DOB, last address, occupation etc

Thanks.
I know an address for him but dont know when he left it as he wasnt living there when we went. Occupation could be completely different as its been a number of years. I shall ring salvation army and see what they can do.
