letters for letterbox contact

My husband & I have just recently adopted our DD who is now 18 months old.
We are due to write our first contact letter to her birth parents + also 1 to the adoptive parents of the older siblings. Can anyone give me any suggestions on how to start each letter as I'm driving myself mad trying to do it. I just cant seem to get a grip of how to start the 1st sentence off, I just end up in floods of tears as I want to get it right. Particularly as most birth parents will await this annual letter with baited breath
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated
Many thx
Jo

Not sure what to say, Jo, but didn't want your post to go unanswered.
Congratulations on your beautiful daughter.

Maybe just "Dear Birth Mum?"

Good luck.

I wouldn't address it, just go straight in and say 'I would like to say, first of all, that we feel glad you have given us the chance for x to make our family complete. She is very happy and is now able to .... etc.

Don't pull on the heart strings. I heard someone call them a 'tummy mummy' but if the address bit is holding you back, omit it.

Thanks girls for your replies.
I'm going to address it to them personally, I kinda know what I want to say, but the initial first line is proving to be a pain.
I'm sure I will get there

Do you have their first names? I always start "Dear " and then something like : It's drawing near to 's 10th birthday and he has been....

But ours have been with us for much longer. If it's your first letter, I think Queenbuzz's suggestion is good.

I'm sure you will too
