transracial adoptive families out there?

We just moved to London a week and a half ago, and we have two transracially adopted children (2 and 4).
I am wondering if there is a network/support group of other transracial adoptive families that get together?
When we moved, we left behind us a wonderful group of like families (at least 100 families involved) which had playgroups, adoption conferences and lectures on significant issues, book clubs, etc. It was so helpful for the parents and the kids, and we would really like to find - or help organize if there isn't one - a group like that here.

Yes I am a transracial adopter in SW London with a 4 yr old bot and have friends who are in the process of adopting 6 and 4 year old siblings trans-racially.

She and I are thinking of trying to set up some kind of support group but the rality is there are so few of us around that I'm not sure it is worthwhile.

However if you'd like to meet up CAT me.

I'm impre3ssed you managed to get 100 transracial adopters together in one area! Was this in the UK?

Great! I would love to meet up...I will send you a message.
I have met one other transracial family so far, and I am sure there are more of us...perhaps if we keep networking and get the word out there we can build the group up! I am happy to do what I can to start this up - it is important to me. It was so so beneficial to us and our kids before, and I want them to see that there are other families like us.
Our other group was in Dallas, Texas, and we were only one support group of three or four in the area (we were probably the largest group, though). There are many transracial families there.
I will see what I can do about getting a website set up for a transracial group here...

I guessed you might have been non-UK before. Transracial adoptions are exceptionally rare in the UK - mostly intercountry and less than 300 intercountry adoptions a year (including those which aren't transracial eg Russia)

I'm sure some of the intercountry adopters might be interested particularly if they aren't China adopters as they tend to be quite well catered for.

There is another adopter on here (Bran) who isn't technically transracial as she is white and her DH is bangladeshi (I think).

If we start small I might be able to drum up some support from the overseas adoption webgroup too.

Where in London are you?

(Obviously I have a 4yr old boy not bot!)

I moderate the uk/kazakh adoption group but most of the children in the london area are of russian descent. I used just a simple yahoo group.
