Hi, my mum was adopted back in the 60s but the children's home she was adopted from has closed down. To be honest, I wasn't even aware it existed. Does anyone know what happens to the records when this happens?

I think they go to the local authority of the area the home is in if run by the LA or alternatively the head office of the organisation, for example Barnadoes who run the home.

Same thing happened to me and I tracked the information down eventually to the Church of England Childrens' Society!!

all the court records are held centrally and your mother has the right to access them, they will give her basic information
