Forgotten Children on tv this week

Just realised that this section exists. Newbie here! . . . Has anybody been watching the channel 4 thing this week, find me a family? I know I'm pregnant but have been in tears some nights.Just wondered if anyone else had considered adoption and what they thought of the programmes.

I adopted my 2 youngest children. I bought a card for my dh the other day which reads: " Love makes things possible, not easy" and that kind of sums our life up! The children are beautiful, full of energy and very loving but the eldest one in particular came 'laden' and it will take a long time for her to lose that baggage. I wouldn't ever want to be without them though.....

shockers - did you adopt after having your own children? - it is something we are contemplating but are very early stages

are there any issues you have found thrown up that you didn't expect?

Noonki- I had a son from my 1st marriage who was 11 when we started to foster. We talked everything through with him as did the social workers. He was fine with the idea of it all and was looking forward to it. He did become quite possessive with me which was perfectly understandable as I don't really think he fully understood what he was signing up for. Looking back, I think we expected a lot from him. We could have had children of our own but had decided to foster for a while as dh wasn't sure whether he was ready for kids ( and I was!). Ds no2 came to us the day he was born... 5 weeks early and very frail. I challenge anyone not to bond under those circumstances! We found that he had an older sister and asked if we could adopt... initially we were rejected because people who can conceive are not given babies. However our dd's health issues meant that she was hard to place so eventually they said yes. She still has some issues, as I said but is a strong and healthy 10 yr old now. Ds no 1 still needs to know how important he is to me but has learned to love the other 2 and does consider them to be his siblings. They in turn, adore him. I would be lying if I said it had been plain sailing but as a family, we all agree that it has worked for us. Ds no 2 says he wishes that he had grown in my tummy like ds no 1 but we reassure him daily about how special his story is and how much we love him because we chose him!
