Know any books for adopted adults?

Probably on the wrong forum here aren't I? Looking for something to help my FIL as he has recently contacted his birth mother and half siblings and is simply rubbish at emotions and will probably not do counselling. I think he needs to know he's not the only one, that everything he's feeling is normal etc.

Any help much appreciated.

there's a nice anthology of rl adoption stories... divided up with sections for adoptees stories / adopters / birth parents. called "family wanted". might be a gentle way in?

The Primal Wound, Understanding the Adopted Child, by Nancy Newton Verrier

Journey of the Adopted Self by Betty Jean Lifton

Both are excellent resources for coming to terms with everything to do with being adopted including reunions. Check out the reviews on amazon for an idea of if you think they may of use.

Very best of luck to your FIL. x

Coming home to self by Nancy Newton Verrier is a great book.
