Just for today…

Can I not need to be the ever patient, ever regulated, ever vigilant parent. This week has been hard, changes at work needing my time and attention, supporting colleagues facing significant changes to roles and process. Uncertain about my own job, due to staff sickness I’ve been carrying the team for three weeks through the reorganisation and I’m knackered.

DD needs a lot of support, three weeks into the school year and she’s struggling again - getting her up and out is an hours long process and every single thing is hard work. It’s not her fault but it’s hard going. I really am patient and accepting of her just not being able to get up and go. This morning I’m utterly worn out - too much emotional energy needed everywhere and I have none to give.

Just for once I wish it was easy. Any more just for today wishes?

I wish I could grant this wish for you. You always seem like someone who carries a staggering amount of load. Your wisdom and experience is always very welcome on this board. Can you find any sort of mini respite for yourself ?

That sounds tough. Could someone you know come over in the mornings for a few days and help? Or cook in the evenings to give you a mini break? If not, are take aways or some ready made meals an option to reduce your load? Could you get some (simple) special food for your daughter for the weekday mornings to make breakfast (and getting up) more fun for a few days?

I very much agree with @CloudPop- I am sure you are an amazing mum!

I am totally with you Jellycatspyjamas just one day without nagging, drink, take your medicines, you can’t wear that!
Oh I had better take it back, youngest has just brought me a coffee and a biscuit!
Seriously it must be hard for you working and caring for your daughter I have no words of wisdom but take care of yourself! I am lucky I have several close friends who are in our situation please rant on here.

Just for today...could DD not need reassurance and repetition eleventy million times about everything? This is absolutely not her fault, and no doubt feels worse for her inside her head and heart than me, but it is exhausting and really really hard to keep a calm tone after the 8th repeat of what I said. Which of course makes it worse if I get impatient, because then we have to start again <weeps >

Full permission to go and scream into the void for a bit @Jellycatspyjamas
