Can anyone advise on The Care Experienced Children and Young People Fund.

LO is in primary school, I recently read about this but to my knowledge they haven't received any targeted support using this. Can anyone with Scittish adoption experience advise how the fund is allocated or accessed? Thanks.

The fund is a pot of money allocated to local authorities to support care experienced young people. While it’s awarded as a notional figure per child (around £1,200), it’s not an identified pot for individual children in the way the post adoption support fund is. The money is allocated to local authority budgets and spent through usual children’s services planning eg allocated to projects for care experienced children.
Chief Social Work or Education officers should be able to explain what it’s being spent on in your area.

While there is technically the potential for some of the fund to be spent on an individual child or family, the reality is that can be very difficult because it’s not how the fund was originally envisaged and it tends to be allocated as part of the local authority budget cycle.

I’m not sure that helps but give me a shout if you’ve got more questions.
