Adopting as a newcomer to the UK

Hello, I've just become a British Citizen and am married to a Brit, but bc I've lived in the US and SA for more than a year I need good conduct checks from both those countries to progress our adoption application. Both processes seem a nightmare - has anyone done for the US or SA, or other countries who can advise me! I have a Police Clearance from when I left SA (couple years old now) will that be accepted since I haven't lived there since?

I lived in several countries before adopting in the UK.

I got a police record check from one European country via their embassy. I tried to get something similar from another embassy, but they never got back to me. My social worker said that I could not do anything about it and our approval went through without it.

I used a police clearance for SA and that was fine,it's hopeless trying to get much from SA once you leave hey so I imagine that's all you need,we never had a query on it in the process.
