Merry Christmas !!

It's been a difficult few months with my foster child and we are having to make a lot of adjustments to our Christmas but we will hopefully still have a good time, though I will settle for no meltdowns!

My lovely boy is home from university and is being a huge help.

so from my family to yours, wishing you all a lovely Christmas, whatever it looks like, and a peaceful new year

The Ted Family

Happy Christmas to all on this board.

Thank you @Ted27 and others further along on this journey for you wisdom and honesty.

My two girls are now both in primary school and although this Christmas hasn't been easy so far, it's an improvement on last year so I'll take that as a win!

Merry Christmas all, we had a few bumps heading into December, but tonight I have appropriately excited children with less anxiety than expected. Tomorrow if it gets too much, I’m throwing chocolate at them and the dog may get a few extra walks (with kids in row). All the best everyone.

Merry Christmas everyone. Thank you for making this forum such a kind and welcoming place. Peace and happiness to you all.

Merry Christmas @Ted27 and all the lovely adopters, I hope somewhere in the day there’s just a little glimpse of magic for us all.

Seahorsesplendour · 24/12/2024 20:35

thank you to those who have understood and cared this year you were all here when I needed you and it really helped ❤️🎄merry Christmas and a peaceful(ish!) new year to you all 🎄

Merry Christmas to you all. We have a Christmas miracle in our house, both the boys are asleep🤭

rabblenotrebel · 24/12/2024 22:12

Merry Christmas to all! We are planning a very simple, relaxed day.

OurChristmasMiracle · 24/12/2024 23:49

merry Christmas 🎄 to all you wonderful parents. I hope you and your families have a wonderful day.

Merry Christmas from FoolManor! MiniFool is waking constantly, it's quite endearing actually after a diabolical December. We have limited decorations (but better than no decorations, which is what we had until tonight) & I've just watched a very unfestive show & only eaten half my bar of chocolate. All the presents (that I've found) are wrapped and I'm not feeling completely despairing. Best Advent evening so far!

Merry Christmas to everyone on this board. I haven't posted but have been lurking - LO has been home for just under 3 months and this board has been so helpful.

I think we may have gotten too carried away in our excitement and pushed them a little bit too much so we're dealing with some sleep issues (hence posting at this time) and I'm feeling a bit guilty and worried that they will be too overwhelmed to enjoy the day.
Am already planning a more laid back, pared down one for next year!

Jellycatspyjamas · 25/12/2024 06:39

Ah it happens, it’s hard to know how much is too much - you’ll learn as you go. Hope you have a lovely day regardless and your little one enjoys it.

Merry Christmas one and all!

We've survived a hellish ferry journey, a few pre-christmas opened presents and the occasional meltdown to arrive at Christmas morning relatively unscathed.

For those of you doing your first Christmas, congratulations! Some traditions you will keep, some you won't. Don't feel bad about going overboard (or sneaking a Bailey's into your park coffee), you can work out what vibes for you as a family as you go.

I'm excited for Christmas dinner today, instead of making our kids eat turkey, we have bulk bought chocolate chip cookies and pringles at the eldest's request, and he will be merrily munching those watching his tablet as we tuck into our delicious grub.

3rd Christmas together and it finally feels a bit more settled.

Thank you to everyone on these boards, you've been so helpful over the past few years!

Merry Christmas!
This time last year we were in the middle of the court case and I was being rejected by LO. It was a wonderful Christmas, but also so hard as I (unknowingly) wanted it to be perfect incase it was our only one. That mixed in with a regression made it a wonderful, but exhausting Christmas.
This year, we have had a very relaxed and chilled as LO was made officially ours earlier in the year. Some Christmas events that have been wonderful. It did surprise me last night remembering the feelings of last year and how sad I have been for LO's birth parents this year. They are never far from my mind.
I an a lurker on these boards, but very much appreciate all the threads. Merry Christmas to all.

Merry Christmas!

Our first too. We did worry we'd gone overboard but DS (just turned 3) is chilled out, has enjoyed his toys, and is sat watching Toy Story 3 with DH while I just take a moment to breathe it all in.

onlytherain · 25/12/2024 18:51

Merry Christmas everyone! Wishing you happiness, love, patience and the ability to hold on to your sense of humour as much as possible.

PoppyStellar · 25/12/2024 19:59

Merry Christmas all. I don’t post very much anymore but this board has been an invaluable source of support over the years. Thank you. @OurChristmasMiracle i hope things are going well for you x

Hels20 · 26/12/2024 20:53

Merry Christmas all. This is our 11th Christmas with DS1 and 8th with DS2. Got through it and now away for a few days on a city break overseas. DS2 said yesterday was the best day ever (but only because he got the present he really wanted…) and DS1 woke up at a reasonable hour and didn’t cry about his presents! So I call that a win.

it’s been a challenging year - not because of their adoption but because of all of the neurodiversity coming to the fore. Youngest has chronic ADHD and somehow in 2025 I have to find a school that will take him and which he has some chance of succeeding at. He is exhausting but v lovable.

Happy Christmas and New Year when it arrives!
