Any experience with FASD diagnosis?

I’d be grateful for some advice and experience.

DD’s behavioural issues have been escalating lately. She’s 7. Previous assessment said attachment issues. There is almost certainly a bit of that.

School have just referred her to CAMHS for an autism assessment. She would be very atypical if that were the case, though I know it can present differently in girls.

Social services always assumed there was alcohol use during pregnancy though no one seemed to know for sure.

For some reason, it just struck me tonight that she could have FASD.

I can say a bit more when I’m less tired - it’s turning out to be a very difficult half term - but I just wanted to initially ask if anyone had had investigations for FASD for their DC, and how it worked out when other conditions were potentially in the frame.

Thanks

Facebook has a brilliant FASD support group, I would look on there, and ask there. There are few clinics that will assess FASD, but the one in Surrey is used to complex presentation. You may have a fight to get to the clinic, though.

Thanks very much for the tip. I’ve applied to join the group though no word yet.

The consultant from that clinic has some really good explanatory YouTube videos. If DD does have it, it’s a milder form but I do have strong suspicions now.
