References for stage 1

Hey.

Me again. So I'm wondering do references have to be local? My 3 are 3 hours, 6 hours and 1.5 hours away. I've only lived in my current location for 2 years and have made some friends but I dont want to use those for references.

That sounds fine, I live in the Midlands, one of mine is in Cornwall and my mum is in the North West, only one was local.

It will vary from agency to agency but usually for your references they ask for one family member and two friends. They don't have to be local but should have known you for a few years (our agency wanted people who had known us for atleast 5 years).

None of our references were local to us but they can offer emotion support over the phone.

The other people, who you don't want to use as references, can be named as part of your support network later on in the process.
