I have recently applied for a new job through Trac recruiting. This has required a new DBS.
Trac applied for the DBS on my behalf.

The DBS form requires your name at birth unless you are adopted at which case they ask for adopted name at 10 years old.

Trac however only asks for name at birth.

I completed the paperwork accurately, highlighted the discrepancy in questions and confirmed my adopted name at 10.
I also said the question was unhelpful unnecessary and required over disclosure of information.

They explained that that question was asked because they couldn't know everyone's personal circumstances

My DBS has now come back with my birth name printed on it
I am incensed
I work peripatetically and periodically people ask to see my DBS.
Has this happened to anyone else?

I have asked Trac to complete a new DBS for me.
I have also requested they consider asking the same questions as DBS

I don't think they get why this is an issue.

I surely can't be the first person to apply for a DBS through Trac?
Does everyone else just lie?

I would be incensed too.no experience of Trac but my son dbs has always been in his current name not birth name.
Most forms now days cover adoptive surnames they need to get with current thinking.
