Delay school

Heya thought some people here might have experience of this. We are delaying LO school start to sept 25 rather than sept 24, already sorted and got approval from school that she can start in reception.

she won’t turn 5 til aug 2025, did anyone who delayed school start have an issues with nursery funding. Online it says 4 years olds get funding and she will be 4 for most of it. I think she will be entitled to the funding still but didn’t know if we would have to explain why we want funding for
longer, or if you just continue to fill out the reconfirmation forms every 3 months?

thanks

We delayed. Nursery not an issue, just reconfirmed. They're entitled until compulsory school age. It just wasn't a problem.

Thank you, the nursery are being a bit funny, I think they are annoyed that there were not asked their opinion on the delay, so finding it hard to get answers on finding entitlement to funding. Good to know that that side of it should be easy 😀

I can’t advise you on funding but I’m an infant teacher and an adoptive mum and I want to tell you that in my experience you are absolutely doing the right thing by delaying school by a year.
