I’m curious to know how many have you adopted a child under the age of 1 but didn’t go through the Early Permanence route?

Do you have any other children? We have a 3 year old birth child so aware that matching may be a little more tricky….

We adopted 1 under 1 and through support groups and existing friendships I know 5 others who did the same without epp. 2 had older birth children

@SMM16 no he's our first. I know some others that have 1st and 2nd placed under 1. More common on EP though.

First child under 1. Second child slightly over 1 due to covid.

Two under one, but separately.

You need to have at least a two year age, gap between any existing children and a child you’d be adopting.

Yes, that’s why I asked. I wanted to see if it’s even a possibility or a long shot really. I appreciate that every situation is different however

Our older children were 5 and 4 when we started the process but by the time we got through it all and got the youngest home it was 3 years later so not an issue, she was then i think 17 months

It's very possible, friends of mine did it through their local authority and there's just over a year between the youngest who was adopted at 10 months not through early permanence and their last bio child. Local authority seemed fine with it when they enquired, agencies wanted a much bigger age gap.

In our local authority there are quite a few babies in the 7-11 months age range adopted.
