Anyone else still suffering from Christmas?

My youngest had really turned a corner towards the end of last year. He held it together beautifully.....until Christmas Eve. Since then we've been back to meltdowns, being hit, bitten and just constant whinging. He is 3.5.

Our daughter, since being back at school, is now back to crying about us all not being together/anxious/will you come home? Stuff.

I know I know. Adoption/trauma etc. I know.

I'm just exhausted. Honestly Christmas was not worth this!

Yes. For the first few years the issues used to occur in the build up to it but these days it's the opposite- great run up with a massive crash of feelings after.

I'm not sure which way round is more exhausting! I keep telling myself they've only been back at school a week.

Just a commiserations post. Christmas itself was ok. However the post Christmas comedown has been real. We have majorly suffered on the sleep and eating front. And the behaviour. And the tantrums. And the... you get it.

I don't think ours going back later after new year helped, it meant they basically had a full week of non routine that had little focus to it.

We are pretty much hibernating through January at this point!
